I and my wife were raised in but left Hollis years ago. We are subscribers to the paper. I find this is a common description for ex Hollis residents. Many of your readers are entering that nostalgic time of life and enjoy reading about the "Good old" time and places of our home town. How about some pieces on historic holiday celebrations or other events Hollis once had or the history of old favorite places such as the La Vista Theater and Soda Shoppe, the Skating Rink, VFW Hall, the cotton gins, the Oil mill, etc. How about a whole paper on famous people from Hollis; Keys quints, sports figures, singers, writers, etc. There are many! Could do good things for circulation. Might help the paper too. : )

How about a piece on the "La Vista Soda Shoppe" building? Who came up with the design and when was it done? That "Art Deco" was very unique or unusual for Hollis, with the big round window, the brush aluminum door with smaller round window, aluminum trim inside, etc. A piece on the La Vista Theater's history would be very interesting. Did it not start as a live music/opera hall? Then there is the VFW Hall...The Masonic Hall...Cotton gins...hotels...blacksmith shops... With lots of old pictures.

On the story this week on page one you talked about lighting a Holliday Tree. (COME ON NOW) IF YOU CAN NOT SPELL CHRISTMAS TREE! This is not what I spent the best part of my life from 17 years old to 20 years old in the ARMY to preserve. Sam Johnson Baytown Texas

Most weeks I can read Hollis News on Wednesday but this week has never updated the new week. I miss it so much! Why wasn't it updated? Since it is my hometown news really enjoy reading it as I live in another state.

(Editor's note) Due to a communication error on our part our online edition was delayed in being uploaded. We are working to correct the problem and apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and readership.

Just saw the online Hollis News for the first time and it is about time! Great site. Living in Lubbock I always get the paper 1-2 weeks after the edition goes out and now I can stay up weekly with the news of the county. Glad to have it online.
